An outstanding enamel and diamond locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This incredible oval-shaped piece is made of 15kt yellow gold (indicating English origin) and is particularly large in size. Both sides?of the locket are made of?rich banded agate which is smoothly polished for a glossy finish. At the?center is a large 0.75ct (approximate weight) Holland cut diamond, which rests?within a?6-point starburst setting that sits raised above the surface. Decorating the gold seam of the locket is an etched border accented with black enamel vine and leaf details. The piece hangs from a large fluted bail with a complimentary?black enamel and Rose Cut diamond design. The generously sized bail allows for the piece to be worn on a substantial gold chain if desired. When opened, the interior of the locket reveals space to store a special photograph behind a removable glass frame.?A magnificent piece, it merges seamlessly into modern day fashion and looks incredibly striking when worn. It would make an impressive addition to any collection!
